Prophet Jeremiah calls us to place our trust in the Lord. He likens believers to thriving trees planted beside the stream of God’s living water. Our roots—representing confidence and trust—extend to be nourished by the stream, the life found in God. We can trust God and take life one day at a time, or even one moment at a time if needed. When our trust is rooted in God, we don’t need to fear the “heat” of life’s pressures and chaos. Our leaves—our lives—remain green. It’s important to remember that this promise doesn’t mean we won’t face heat in life. Jeremiah speaks of “heat coming,” not “if.” When those heats come, we’re not alone. We are rooted beside a flowing stream. If our faith is in God, we don’t need to fear the trials that will come—and they will come—because we are rooted in God’s grace. Our leaves will remain green, and we will bear fruit. This is the Good News for 2026: we will grow amidst heat and drought when we are rooted in God’s streams of grace.
